On April 4th, Soup Can Magazine celebrates Five Years of culture with our annual Canniversary at Wild Air Beerkworks in Asbury Park. It's more than an anniversary party - it’s a celebration of community, creativity, and the mutual aid spirit that has carried this project from a small idea in an apartment during a pandemic to statewide cultural and artistic movement. In one night, we’re bringing together musicians, poets, organizers, and neighbors for a night that blends art with impact, all in support of Mercy Center’s essential work. With live performances, rapid‑fire poetry, and a goal of breaking our record by collecting over 1,100 pounds of food in a single evening, the Canniversary stands as a testament to what happens when people show up, year after year, to build community out of art, music, and poetry. Featuring musical performances by Soup Can alumni S0ulFood, Mxtchxll, and Boots, as well as the countless poets performing that night, and hosted by Soup Can Alumnus Blaise, this event is full of the people who helped build this little publication into the movement that it is. The Canniversary is our biggest, sappiest, most heartfelt thank you to everyone who made Soup Can Magazine what it is. And as always, we do it for the culture.
